REVIEW : Ian Sales - Adrift on the Sea of Rains

"Adrift on the Sea of Rains" is, in it's own way, a very important novella. On one hand it is the first book published by Whippleshield Books, a promising new indie publishing house, while on the other, it clearly showcases promising new talent on the scifi scene, Ian Sales.

Set in an alternative timeline where Apollo missions continued (don't we all wish it happened?), this 50 page novella follows the story of the group of astronauts stranded on the Moon while below (or above) them, Earth is in the middle of the apocalyptic war between USA and USSR. Not to spoil too much of the story, "Adrift on the Sea of Rains" is full of innovative concepts featuring parallel evolutions of Earth and particular Bell.

And this is where ultimately its only fault lies. There are so many great concepts here that it could've easily filled a novel worth of material so by the time you storm through 50 or so pages, you simply want more.

All in all, "Adrift on the Sea of Rains" is more than worthy addition to the genre and fantastic opening for Whippleshield Books.

As wished by Ian on twitter, we oblige, "Mr. Sales is a marvellous man."

"Adrift on the Sea of Rains" will be available in paperback for £3.99 and a signed hardback limited to 75 copies for £5.99.
It will be launched on 8 April at Olympus2012 in London

An ebook edition will be released some time after Olympus2012.

Next book in the Apollo Quartet will be "Wave Fronts" and  will be hopefully published by the end of the summer.
We can't wait!
