REVIEW : Ramez Naam - Nexus

In the near future, experimental nano-drug Nexus is making rounds. With the possibility to link minds together, it's no wonder that some people are up to nefarious purposes. So starts Nexus, the debut novel by Ramez Naam. And from the first page you feel like he knows what he is doing. In seconds, I was hooked up and was completely enjoying this posthuman technothriller.

As we follow mad dash around the world in the footsteps of the young scientist Kaden Lane, the story feels like being on a insanely dangerous rollercoaster. The best bit is that there is so much more to enjoy in Nexus than just the relentless action. Naam touches some very interesting issues and asks the questions about what it means to be human. Are we still described by our experiences and knowledge once when everything is available to everyone instantly?

Great and thought provoking stuff reminiscent of Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson or Accelerando by Charles Stross.

Nexus is published by Angry Robot Books.
